FDA Information

In November 1996, the FDA approved donepezil for prescription use in treating mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.

Since then, many patients have been prescribed this newly approved medication. The published results of double-blind studies have indicated statistically significant improvements in scores on such neuropsychological tests as the ADAS-Cog., the MMSE, and the Clinician's Interview-Based Impression of Change (CIBIC). These results were the basis for FDA approval of donepezil.
